Recent Talks Roundup
Since last posting, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many fascinating places - arranging events, giving invited talks, and participating in panel discussions. Some details and pictures are gathered below: a heartfelt thanks to all of the organisers who have made this possible!
April 2026 has already involved events at Robosoft 2026, Kanazawa, and Tokyo, where I:
- Gave an invited talk and joined a panel discussion on Monolithic Soft Systems in Robotics.
- Gave an invited talk on non-contact object manipulation in a workshop “Exploiting Fluids and Embodied Intelligence in Soft Robotics.”
- Helped to organise a new workshop: “Electrical Impedance Tomography-Based Tactile Sensing: Bridging Soft Robotics and Artificial Touch”, where I also joined the closing panel discussion.
Additionally:
-
At the end of February I visited the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, to speak in their 2026 Scientific Symposium.
-
In August I gave an invited talk on my work at the International Flexible Electronics Technology Conference (IFETC) in Vancouver, where it was great to connect with an entirely new community! I also gave a keynote talk at the STEM WP Summer Internship Conference, held at Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing.
-
In June I gave an invited talk at the Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics, held at the beautiful Royal Geographical Society in London.
Next month I’ll be at ICRA 2026 in Vienna as one of the workshop organisers bringing together the community in large-area tactile sensing. Find out more here.
